Livestock Recording Field Demonstration Days
Livestock Recording holds regular field demonstrations and hardware help sessions, affectionately known as "Demo Days". The Demo Day formula has proven popular as producers can get hands on experience with how to benefit from recording using NLIS tags. Demo Days are held on the first and third Fridays of each month with up to 12 participants at a time.
Each Demo Day is held at the grazing property “Ebony Hills” located at Black Mountain in the New England region of NSW. “Ebony Hills” currently runs a small commercial breeding herd, backgrounds and finishes steers. If a group would like a Demo Day held in a different location we can provide a quote for travel.
The Demo Day starts at 10:00 am in the farm office where participants are briefly introduced to Livestock Recording and the ProKollect data collection software.
Participants then move to the cattle yards for a hands-on demonstration of in yard data collection and automatic drafting. Participants with questions about their existing hardware are encouraged to ask questions or even to bring their hardware along for a quick help session.
Following completion of the in yard demonstration participants return to the farm office for morning tea and to see how easily data collected in the yards with ProKollect can be transferred to the Livestock Recording software. If participants would like to discuss a particular aspect of recording, how to manage NLIS for example, they are encouraged to let the presenter know.
The Demo Day ends when each participant is happy they have seen what they need to and their questions have been answered. This is usually around midday.
Those who would benefit from participating in a Livestock Recording Demo Day include:
- those new to recording that have not yet purchased any yard equipment or set up for NLIS
- those who are building new yards and would like to see what options are available
- those who are not happy with their current data collection system and want an easier to use, more practical solution
- those who have been having trouble with existing hardware or do not know where to start with NLIS
Attendance at Livestock Recording Demo Days held at "ebony Hills" is free but bookings are essential for catering purposes. To book a place or for further information, contact Livestock Recording:
